How such a theme now looks like?
A visual presentation will help you:
So we split the page into several files:
- sidebar.php (this is the navigation)
- index.php (may be single.php or page.php)
The nice thing about WordPress and php files that you put this 1x well and that all pages than your footer or header load automatically.
Installing Xampp lite.
Time to get started. Download this Xampp . Install it in your root directory (directly under your local c: \)
Go to C: \ xampplite and double setup_xampp.bat
Now we can open the program. Click xampp-control.exe and will appear in a new window.
We will now open the Apache and MySQL services. Click 2 times to start.
The last step consists in now to Dictate your Internet browser and typing the following URL: http: // localhost /
Now we have arrived at the destination page on our hard drive. If we start a WordPress site to build, we do so under the following folder:
* hard disk we place the files under:
C: \ xampplite \ htdocs \ wordpress
* as we want to see the site in our browser:
http: // localhost / wordpress
Preparation WordPress on our local disk
Download a moment from the WordPress site, unzip the files and place them under the folder “wordpress” that we have created in the XAMPP folder.
Create under the folder “themes” a new folder. You can give it any name (eg Euro-earn-theme).
If all went well, you now have an empty folder when you go into Windows Explorer to C: \ xampplite \ htdocs \ wordpress \ wp-content \ themes \ euro earn-theme \
In this folder we store all our files.
The advantage of a WordPress site is that the installation is extremely easy:
• You place the files in the location (online or offline)
• You apply the config file;
• You point your browser to the URL and adds wp-admin /install.php to it (for example: http: //localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php) and follow the steps that appear on the screen.
just take the readme by which you get when installing WordPress and you’re so gone!
Start with index.php
Meet with Notepad (or Notepad ++) two files in the folder: index.php and style.css
Copy everything from the DIT file into your empty index.php file.
Of course, we explain here at:
Doctype – indicate what codes you will use. <Html> – here we start our page. <Head> and </ head> – This is the top of your page and see that you do not publicly surfing a website. <? Php blog info? ( ‘stylesheet_url’); ?> – This is a php function. It calls on the location where the file style.css (your theme folder) state. Php functions begin with: <? Php and always end with ?> . <Body> – Here will be all the content you’ll see when you browse a website. We conclude this with the following tag: </ body> . </ Html> – Here ends the Web.
Starting with style.css
Now open the empty file style.css that you have just created and paste the code from THIS FILE .
In style.css we will specify everything as the width of our pages, the colors we use, etc …
Activate the theme
Time to log on as WordPress. Type the following into your browser: http: // localhost / wordpress / wp-admin /
You will be automatically redirected to the login screen.
Log in and then navigate to the admin area to “Appearance >> Themes”. In it you will see are the theme:
Activate the theme.
Now navigate to http: // localhost / wordpress / and you will see a blank page. If you see a blank page, then something has gone wrong. There can be no guarantee text yet because until now we have not even entered the code in the index.php page.
In the following chapters, we will start adding the necessary codes in this order:
- header.php (because it has specific provisions);
- footer.php (this is relatively easy and will go quickly);
- index.php (this is the most difficult piece: a lot of code and important: the wordpress loop);
- sidebar.php (this we conclude the designing of the index page).
